The theme for the 2006 NEES Annual Meeting is Broadening Participation Throughout NEES

You are invited to join NEES in Washington, DC on June 21-23, 2006 for the Fourth NEES Annual Meeting. The meeting will bring together members of the extended NEES community to share ideas and information about activities underway in the research, education, and IT segments of the network.

The theme of the meeting is Broadening Participation Throughout NEES. As part of this theme, there will be presentations on topics such as: collaboration with research organizations in the U.S., international collaboration, transfer of research results to practitioners, and outreach aimed at attracting groups that are traditionally underrepresented in earthquake engineering.

The venue for the meeting is the Crystal City Doubletree Hotel, which overlooks the Pentagon, and the Capitol Mall. A room block has been established under the name "NEES Annual Meeting" or the code "NEE" for a nightly rate of $199 per guest room.

Broad-based Appeal

The Fourth NEES Annual Meeting is aimed at researchers, engineers, educators and others in the STEM field. Earthquake Engineering is a very broad area that utilizes the skills of engineers in the disciplines of Information Technology, Civil, Geological, Materials, Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, etc. in order to analyze and evaluate the effects of earthquakes on structures, systems and materials through the use and understanding of data acquisition systems, information technology, vibrations, dynamics, geotechnical specialties, earth sciences, etc. We welcome your participation.
