Structure of NEESinc

NEES Consortium, Inc. (NEESinc) is a public benefit, non-profit corporation. The following points highlight features that are covered in more depth in the NEESinc bylaws.

Three classes of members are defined in the bylaws:

  1. Institutional members are colleges, universities, research institutes, governmental agencies, or non-profit organizations that are or desire to be actively engaged in NEES earthquake engineering research, education, or implementation.

  2. Individual members desire to be actively engaged in NEES earthquake engineering research, education, or implementation, with the minimum qualification of an undergraduate degree.

  3. Equipment Site members are limited to the Lab Facilities laboratories funded under NSF's NEES program.

Members enjoy a number of benefits and can participate in NEESinc's meetings, committees, workshops, and other activities. Information about joining NEES...

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is elected by members of the consortium. As with most non-profit organizations, the Board consists of volunteers who set policies and are charged with overall decision-making for the organization. The officers of the Consortium include a President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer.

Committees

Standing committees advise the Board of Directors on the operational aspects and strategic directions of NEESinc. Members can stand as candidates for election to the Nominations Committee, Site Operations and Facilities Sharing Committee, and Data Sharing Committee. The Board appoints individuals to the Education, Outreach and Training Committee, Finance Committee, and Information Technology Committee.
