Education, Outreach, and Training Committee (EOTC)
The EOT Committee is charged with the following:
- Develop policy and strategy recommendations for Board approval and provide advice and perspective to NEESinc staff regarding development, coordination, and implementation of EOT programs and diversity initiatives of NEES to significantly advance the broader impacts of the Consortium.
- Assist NEESinc in the review of strategies and processes for the coordination of geographically-distributed EOT resources at the 15 NEES Equipment Sites, NEESit, and the varied Researcher institutions using the NEES facilities.
- Review of supplemental EOT proposals to the NSF or other organizations to assure alignment with community goals, interests, and capabilities.
- Perform an annual review of the Consortium's EOT activities and the NEESinc-recommended EOT budget.
- Advise NEESinc staff on issues related to community interest including:
- Facilitating partnerships and initiatives with: 1) other earthquake-related organizations and stakeholders having an interest in seismic risk awareness and mitigation, and 2) education-related organizations pursuing advances in education of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
- Developing and integrating effective diversity strategies into all elements of NEESinc's EOT activities.
- Planning for the NEESinc Annual Meeting including development of excellent programs of invited presentations, issue forums, community development workshops, and recognition mechanisms.
- Encouraging member retention and growth through development of meaningful membership services and benefits including announcements, newsletters, on-line resources, etc.
- Development of community-based marketing and resource materials to promote NEES' mission and accomplishments to a broad range of audiences.
- Facilitate communication and dissemination of NEESinc EOT opportunities such as REU, RET, etc. to broad and diverse constituencies.
- Coordination of resources and projects for development of educational matter that meets applicable curriculum standards.
- Provide representation for other NEESinc Committees and Working Groups as needed to assure effective interfaces between NEES' diverse constituencies.
